D Graders do it

This past weekend, the Bay of Plenty region was filled with excitement as players from 14 clubs gathered to participate in the Bay of Plenty Superchamps Elimination Tournaments. The courts were witness to some epic matches and fierce battles that showcased the incredible talent and passion for the sport in the region. Players brought their A-game!

Taupō Squash Club won both women’s and men’s D Grade and will be representing BOP at National Superchamps in September in Hastings. This didn’t just happen…a lot of training, preparation and team management paid off. Also notable that Taupō is the only club in BOP to have two teams represented in the finals.

Stay tuned as although the two teams have been given generous donations from Squash BOP and Taupo Squash there is still costs to cover - some exciting fundraisers are in the works - get in behind them!

Also congratulations to our Men's C-Grade team who came 5th out of 8 teams - a tough draw with some epic battles. Big thanks to Kambyl Wihapi-Kerr, Luke Steyn, Joseph Wilson & Colleen Green for officiating, Paul Carter & Kitt Wyatt for reffing and marking the final games. Also, thanks to one of our new members, Jeff Fox (Fox Physio) for being available to give Physio to some of the sore and aching players, Kashif Shuja of Sportify (Sports Cafe) for displaying and making his products available over the weekend. And most of all the clubies that came down to support the fellas, it created a pumping atmosphere (and really gave the boys the home court advantage).
